With a local trekking guide, you walk uphill for about 2 hours in the dark on loose volcanic gravel to reach the rim at about 1,717 m in time for sunrise over Mount Abang and Lake Batur. The top is cold and windy before dawn, so carry a jacket. After about 1.5 hours of descent you are back in Ubud by…
Three waterfalls · Transfer to Kuta — Check out after breakfast and drive about 25 minutes to Tibumana waterfall, reached by a gentle 10-minute forest path. Continue to Kanto Lampo, where the water drops over stepped rocks and you can stand under the spray, and then to Tegenungan, which has a steep stairway of about 15 minutes each way. Carry a change of clothes and wear shoes with good grip. After a lunch stop (at your own cost),…

Visa & entry
Indian passport holders can get a visa on arrival for Indonesia. Apply online for the e-VOA before travel on the official site evisa.imigrasi.go.id (recommended), or buy it at Bali airport on arrival. The fee is currently IDR 500,000 per person, and the visa allows a 30-day stay that can be extended once by 30 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival, and you need a return ticket. Two more steps apply. First, pay the Bali tourist levy of IDR 150,000 per person, once per trip, through the official Love Bali website or app. Second, fill in the free All Indonesia arrival declaration online within 3 days before landing and show its QR code at the airport. Indonesia has announced a planned increase in the visa fee, so we confirm the current fee when you book.
Good to know
The Batur trek is moderate but steep, with about 2 hours of uphill walking on loose gravel in the dark. It is not suitable for young children, seniors, pregnant travellers or anyone with knee, heart or breathing problems. Tell us at booking and we can replace it with a sightseeing day.
Pack for the outdoors: trekking or sports shoes with good grip, a light jacket for the Batur summit, a quick-dry change of clothes for the waterfalls, and a small waterproof bag for your phone.
At temples, cover your shoulders and knees. A sarong is provided at each temple visit on this tour.
Currency is the Indonesian rupiah (IDR). Carry cash for waterfall stalls, markets and small shops. Exchange US dollars on arrival, because Indian rupees are not easily exchanged in Bali.
Vegetarian food is easy to find in Ubud, and Ubud and Kuta both have Indian restaurants. Drink bottled water only.
Adventure activities such as rafting and ATV rides are run by licensed local operators. Check that your travel insurance covers them before you book.
Questions travellers ask
How difficult is the Mount Batur trek?
It is a moderate trek of about 2 hours up and 1.5 hours down, on loose volcanic gravel and mostly in the dark. Anyone with reasonable fitness can do it at a steady pace with the guide. We do not recommend it for young children, seniors or anyone with knee or heart problems.
Are rafting and the ATV ride included?
No. Both are optional at extra cost, and you can do them on the afternoon of Day 3 or add a day. We can book them with hotel pickup when you confirm the tour.
Do we need a visa for Bali?
Yes, but it is a visa on arrival. You can apply online as an e-VOA before travel or get it at Bali airport, for IDR 500,000 per person and a 30-day stay. You also pay the IDR 150,000 Bali tourist levy and fill in the free All Indonesia arrival declaration online. We guide you through all three.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Ubud has many vegetarian restaurants, and Ubud and Kuta have Indian restaurants. Hotel breakfasts include vegetarian options. For Jain food, tell us at booking so we can inform the hotels.
Are flights included?
No, the price is for the land package. We can quote flights to Bali from Hyderabad or other Indian cities separately, usually with one connection.
