Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Cairo — Our representative meets you at Cairo International Airport, helps with the visa on arrival if you are eligible (or checks your e-visa) and drives you to your hotel, about 45–60 minutes depending on traffic. A welcome drink is served on arrival. Check-in is usually from 2:00–3:00 pm, and the rest of the day is free to rest.
Pyramids of Giza · Sphinx · Grand Egyptian Museum — After breakfast, your Egyptologist guide takes you to the Giza Plateau, entering through the new Pyramids Visitor Centre, where a shuttle runs between the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Panorama viewpoint and the Great Sphinx. Going inside the Great Pyramid and camel rides are optional at extra cost. Lunch is on your own; koshari and falafel shops are cheap and vegetarian. In the afternoon, spend…
Egyptian Museum · Citadel · Khan el-Khalili — After breakfast, visit the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square, the original treasure house of Egyptian antiquities, for about 2 hours. Continue to the Citadel of Saladin and the Mohamed Ali Mosque, with views across Cairo (cover shoulders and knees; women need a headscarf). Lunch is on your own. End the day in the lanes of the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, a good place to buy spices, cotton, papyrus and…
Fly to Luxor · Karnak Temple · Luxor Temple at dusk — An early transfer to Cairo airport for the flight to Luxor, about 1 hour (flight quoted separately; a day train of about 9–10 hours is a cheaper option). After check-in, your guide takes you to Karnak Temple, a vast complex built over about 2,000 years, with the Great Hypostyle Hall of 134 giant columns and the Sacred Lake. In the evening, walk along the Avenue of Sphinxes to Luxor Temple as the…
Valley of the Kings · Temple of Hatshepsut · Sunset felucca sail — Cross to the West Bank early to beat the heat. Visit the Valley of the Kings (the standard ticket covers 3 tombs; Tutankhamun's tomb costs extra), the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, returning to the hotel by early afternoon. Late in the afternoon, board a felucca, a traditional wooden sailboat, for a quiet sail of about 1 hour on the Nile, watching the sun set behind…
Free day in Luxor · Optional balloon flight or Dendera — A free day at your own pace. Optional at extra cost: a sunrise hot-air balloon flight over the West Bank temples (about 45 minutes in the air, pick-up around 5:00 am), a day trip north to the temples of Dendera and Abydos (about 9–10 hours), or the Luxor Museum, which is small, well displayed and open into the evening. The Luxor souk near Luxor Temple is good for spices and souvenirs.
Fly home via Cairo — Breakfast and check-out, usually by 12:00 noon. Transfer to Luxor airport, about 20 minutes, for your flight to Cairo, about 1 hour, to connect with your international flight home (flights quoted separately; please allow at least 3 hours in Cairo between flights).

Visa & entry
Indian passport holders need a visa for Egypt. Most apply for the Egypt e-visa online before travel (about USD 30 for single entry; apply at least a week ahead). Indians holding a valid, already used US, UK, Schengen, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand or Japanese visa can usually get a visa on arrival at Cairo airport instead (about USD 30). Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date, and you should carry your return ticket and hotel details.
Good to know
Entry tickets add up in Egypt (for example, about EGP 1,450 for the Grand Egyptian Museum and EGP 700 for the Giza Plateau in 2026), so we list them in your quote before you book. Grand Egyptian Museum tickets are sold online only, with timed entry.
Tipping (baksheesh) is expected for guides, drivers, felucca crews and toilet attendants. Carry small notes in Egyptian pounds.
Vegetarian food is cheap and easy to find: koshari, ful medames, ta'ameya (Egyptian falafel), lentil soup and salads. Cairo has a few Indian restaurants.
Wear light, loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees, a hat and comfortable shoes; carry a scarf for mosques.
Drink bottled water only. Luxor gets very hot by midday, so sightseeing starts early.
Agree prices for horse carriages, taxis and camel rides before you start, and use the guide's help when shopping in bazaars.
Questions travellers ask
Does this package include a Nile cruise?
It includes a 1-hour sunset felucca sail on the Nile in Luxor, not a multi-day cruise. If you would like to sail between Luxor and Aswan, see our Egypt Pyramids & Nile package.
How do we travel from Cairo to Luxor?
By a 1-hour domestic flight, which we quote separately because fares change with dates. A day train of about 9–10 hours is cheaper but uses most of a day.
Are entry tickets included?
No, monument and museum tickets are quoted separately because prices change often. We list them in your quote so you know the full cost before you travel.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Hotel breakfasts have vegetarian options, and Egyptian street food such as koshari and falafel is vegetarian and inexpensive.
Do Indians need a visa for Egypt?
Yes. Most Indian travellers apply for the Egypt e-visa online before travel. If you hold a valid, used US, UK or Schengen visa, you can usually get a visa on arrival instead.
