Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Amman — Our representative meets you at Queen Alia International Airport after immigration, where you get your visa on arrival or show your Jordan Pass. The drive to your Amman hotel takes about 45 minutes. Check-in is usually from 2:00–3:00 pm. If you arrive early, you can walk along Rainbow Street in the evening for cafés and falafel shops. Flights from India usually connect via the Gulf, so this day…
Jerash · Amman Citadel and Roman Theatre — After breakfast, drive about 1 hour north to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman provincial cities, and spend about 2.5–3 hours walking from Hadrian's Arch through the Oval Plaza and along the colonnaded Cardo to the temples and theatres. Lunch is on your own; there are restaurants near the Jerash visitor centre. Return to Amman in the afternoon to visit the Citadel hill, with the Temple of…
Amman to Petra · Afternoon exploring Petra — Check out early and drive south on the Desert Highway to Wadi Musa, the town at the entrance to Petra, about 3–3.5 hours. After checking in, enter Petra (ticket included) around midday and walk through the Siq, a narrow 1.2 km gorge, to the Treasury, then continue past the Street of Facades and the Theatre to the Royal Tombs. Plan on 4–5 hours and about 8–10 km of walking on sand and stone;…
Little Petra · Wadi Rum jeep safari and desert camp — After breakfast, a short drive to Little Petra (Siq al-Barid, free entry), a smaller canyon with Nabataean carvings, for about 45 minutes. Continue to Wadi Rum, about 1.5–2 hours, and check in to your desert camp. In the afternoon, a Bedouin driver takes you on the included jeep safari of about 2–3 hours through red sand valleys and rock bridges, with stops at Lawrence's Spring, the Khazali…
Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea · Float in the Dead Sea — After breakfast at camp, drive north to the Dead Sea, about 4 hours via the Desert Highway, with a rest stop on the way. Check in to your resort in the early afternoon and spend the rest of the day at the hotel's private beach: the water is so salty that you float without effort, and the black mud is good for the skin. Keep water out of your eyes and do not shave on the day of the swim. The…
Departure from Amman airport — Breakfast and a last float if time allows; check-out is usually by 12:00 noon. Transfer to Queen Alia International Airport, about 1 hour from the Dead Sea resorts, reaching about 3 hours before your flight.

Visa & entry
Indian passport holders can get a single-entry tourist visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, Amman, for JOD 40 (about ₹4,700), or apply for a Jordan e-visa before travel. If you buy a Jordan Pass online before you fly and stay in Jordan at least 3 nights, the visa fee is waived; the pass also covers Petra, Jerash and other sites. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months, and immigration may ask to see your return ticket, hotel bookings and proof of funds.
Good to know
A Jordan Pass (from JOD 70, bought online at jordanpass.jo before travel) covers the visa fee for stays of 3 nights or more, plus entry to Petra, Jerash, Amman Citadel and Wadi Rum. For most of our guests it costs less than paying the visa and tickets separately; ask us before you buy.
Petra involves a lot of walking on uneven ground. Wear good walking shoes, carry water and a hat, and allow extra time for seniors; horse rides cover only the first stretch to the Siq entrance.
Wadi Rum nights are cold from November to March (often below 5°C); carry a warm jacket even in spring and autumn.
Vegetarian food is easy: hummus, falafel, mutabbal, fattoush and fresh bread are everywhere. Indian restaurants are found mainly in Amman.
The currency is the Jordanian dinar (JOD), worth about ₹118. Cards work in hotels and larger shops; carry cash for Petra rides, the camp and tips.
Dress modestly outside resorts: shoulders and knees covered, especially in downtown Amman and villages.
Questions travellers ask
Do Indians get a visa on arrival in Jordan?
Yes, Indian passport holders can get a tourist visa on arrival at Amman airport for JOD 40. If you buy a Jordan Pass online before travel and stay at least 3 nights, the visa fee is waived, and the pass also covers Petra and Jerash.
Is a guide included at Petra?
No. The Petra ticket is included, and licensed local guides can be hired at the visitor centre for the main trail (about 2 hours). We can pre-book one for you if you tell us when booking.
Is the trip suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, with some care. Petra needs 8–10 km of walking, but seniors can walk to the Treasury and back at their own pace or hire a carriage. Jerash and the Dead Sea are easy, and the jeep safari is bumpy but short.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Middle Eastern food has many vegetarian dishes such as hummus, falafel and salads. Tell us in advance so the Wadi Rum camp prepares vegetarian food for you.
Are flights included?
No, the price is for the land package only. Flights from India to Amman usually connect via Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha or Riyadh; we can quote them along with the package.
