Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Goa · drive to Gokarna · beach sunset — Our driver meets you at Goa's Dabolim airport (Mopa airport or Madgaon station on request) for the drive south to Gokarna (about 145 km, 3.5–4 hours along NH 66). After check-in, go down to Gokarna main beach or Kudle Beach for the sunset. Gokarna is quieter than Goa, with simple beach cafés and few crowds outside long weekends. Dinner is on your own.
Gokarna · Mahabaleshwar Temple and Om Beach — In the morning, visit the Mahabaleshwar Temple, which by tradition holds the Atmalinga that Ravana brought from Kailasa, and the Maha Ganapati temple next to it. A dress code usually applies: men are generally asked to remove shirts and wear a dhoti or traditional clothes in the inner area, and women should wear a saree or salwar; check at the temple. Later, drive to the Om Beach viewpoint and…
Gokarna to Murudeshwar · Mirjan Fort and Idagunji — After breakfast, drive south to Murudeshwar (about 80 km, 2 hours), stopping at Mirjan Fort near Kumta and the Idagunji Maha Ganapati temple near Honnavar. Reach Murudeshwar in the afternoon and visit the temple complex on Kanduka Hill, with its large seated Shiva statue facing the sea and the tall Raja Gopura, which has a lift to a viewing level (ticket paid locally). The Murudeshwar temple…
Murudeshwar to Goa · departure — If the sea is calm and the season is open (usually October–May), you can take an early boat trip towards Netrani Island for snorkelling or diving (optional, booked and paid locally, about 3–4 hours). Otherwise, after breakfast drive back to Goa's Dabolim airport (about 215 km, 5–5.5 hours). A flight after about 4 pm works best; Murudeshwar also has a railway station on the Konkan line if you…

Good to know
Gokarna and Murudeshwar temples usually have dress codes: traditional clothes, no shorts, and men may need to remove shirts in the inner area.
Swim only at patrolled stretches and never during monsoon or rough seas; currents along this coast can be strong.
Netrani Island trips run only in fair weather, usually October to May, and are cancelled at short notice if the sea is rough.
Gokarna beach cafés are simple; for Andhra-style vegetarian food, temple-town restaurants near the car street are the best bet.
Mopa (North Goa) airport is about an hour further than Dabolim; tell us which one you fly into.
Questions travellers ask
Which Goa airport should we book?
Dabolim is closer (about 3.5–4 hours to Gokarna). Mopa also works but adds about an hour each way. We can also pick you up at Madgaon or Karwar railway stations.
Can we visit the temples in normal clothes?
Usually not in the inner areas. Carry a dhoti or traditional wear for men and a saree or salwar for women; the rules are applied at the gate.
Is the Netrani snorkelling included?
No. It is optional, weather-dependent and booked locally. We can help arrange it on Day 4 if the sea is calm.
Can we add Udupi Sri Krishna temple?
Yes. Udupi is about 100 km south of Murudeshwar; adding a night there lets you finish at Mangaluru airport instead of Goa.
