Drive about 45 minutes north to your beach resort at Marari, a quiet fishing-village coast with few crowds. The rest of the day is free for the pool and a walk along the beach at sunset. Swim only where the resort says it is safe.
Free day at Marari · optional village cycling or candlelight dinner — A free day at the resort. Optional at extra cost: a morning cycle ride through the coir-making and fishing villages behind the beach, a spa treatment at the resort, a half-day trip to Fort Kochi (about 1.5 hours each way), or a candlelight dinner on the beach arranged by the resort.

Visa & entry
No visa needed. Carry a government photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, driving licence or voter ID) for both of you, because hotels and the houseboat ask for it at check-in.
Good to know
Munnar and Thekkady are cool in the evenings (often 12–20 °C in winter), so pack a light jacket. The backwaters and Marari are warm and humid.
Treehouses are reached by stairs or a ladder-style staircase, and some have limited AC or none (the forest keeps them cool). Tell us if either of you is uncomfortable with heights.
The hill roads are winding. Carry motion-sickness tablets if needed.
Periyar boat tickets are limited and sell out early on weekends and holidays. Eravikulam usually closes for some weeks around February–March.
The sea at Marari can be rough, especially from May to August. Swim only where the resort says it is safe.
Hotels and the houseboat can serve vegetarian or mild Andhra-style food if you tell us in advance.
Questions travellers ask
What is the treehouse like? Is it safe?
It is a proper room with a bed and attached bathroom, built on a platform among the trees and reached by stairs. Treehouses are built and inspected for guests, and there is staff on site. It is not recommended for anyone who is uncomfortable with heights.
Is the candlelight dinner included?
No, it is optional. Resorts at Marari can arrange one on the beach at extra cost; tell us the evening you prefer and we will book it.
Is the houseboat private?
Yes. It is a private houseboat for the two of you, with its own crew of a driver and a cook.
Can we get vegetarian food?
Yes. All hotels serve vegetarian food, and the houseboat cook will make vegetarian meals with the spice level you prefer if you tell us when booking.
Does the price include flights?
No. The package starts and ends at Kochi airport. We can book flights from Vijayawada or Hyderabad separately and send you a combined quote.
