8 Days / 7 Nights. From ₹58,000 per person (twin sharing), plus 5% GST.

The trip includes Thiksey's morning prayers, the Hunder dunes, a day out to Turtuk village, and sunrise and Milky Way sessions at Pangong. It suits keen amateurs with a DSLR or mirrorless camera as well as serious phone photographers.

Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Leh · Rest · Old town walk — Our driver meets you at Leh airport (3,500 m) and takes you to your hotel, about 15 minutes away. Rest for most of the day so your body can adjust to the altitude: drink plenty of water and avoid carrying heavy camera bags uphill. In the late afternoon, if you feel well, take a slow walk through Leh's old town lanes below the palace and the main bazaar for street and portrait photography. Always…
Thiksey morning prayers · Hemis · Shanti Stupa at sunset — Leave the hotel around 5:30 am for Thiksey Monastery, about 19 km away, to photograph the early morning prayers, which usually start around 6 am, and the monastery in first light. Then visit Shey Palace and continue to Hemis Monastery, about 45 km from Leh (museum entry extra; photography is not allowed inside some halls). Return to Leh to rest in the afternoon. At sunset, go to Shanti Stupa for…
Leh to Nubra over Khardung La · Hunder dunes at golden hour — After breakfast, drive to Nubra over Khardung La (about 5,359 m), around 125 km and 4–5 hours, with photo stops at South Pullu and the viewpoints on the descent. Stop at the top for only 15–20 minutes. Check in at Hunder and rest, then head to the sand dunes for the last two hours of light, when the dunes, the Bactrian camels and the mountains behind them are at their best. A camel ride is…
Diskit at dawn · Day trip to Turtuk — Start with early light at Diskit Monastery and the 32 m Maitreya Buddha looking down the valley. After breakfast, drive along the Shyok river to Turtuk, about 80 km and 2.5–3 hours from Hunder. This Balti village, opened to visitors in 2010, has apricot orchards, stone houses, a small heritage museum and very different faces and architecture from the rest of Ladakh. Photograph villagers only…
Nubra to Pangong Lake via the Shyok river road — Leave after an early breakfast for Pangong Lake via Agham and Durbuk, about 160 km and 6–7 hours along the Shyok river, with stops for river and canyon landscapes. If the road is closed after rain, we go via Leh and Chang La. Reach Pangong (about 4,250 m) by afternoon and scout locations along the shore near your camp for sunset and the next morning's sunrise. If skies are clear, the first…
Pangong sunrise · Lakeshore villages · Milky Way — Be at the shore 30 minutes before sunrise, when the first light turns the mountains across the lake pink and gold. After breakfast, drive along the shore towards Man and Merak villages (about 1 hour) for quieter compositions and changing water colours through the day. Rest in the afternoon, as the light is harsh and the wind picks up. After dark, the lake is one of the best places in India for…
Pangong to Leh over Chang La — Catch one more sunrise at the lake, then drive back to Leh over Chang La (about 5,360 m), around 160 km and 5–6 hours. On the way, photograph the marmots in the meadows near Tangtse in summer (do not feed them) and the Indus valley villages. Reach Leh by afternoon. The evening is free to back up your photographs and shop in Leh Main Bazaar.
Departure from Leh — After breakfast, you will be dropped at Leh airport, about 15 minutes away. Most flights leave Leh in the morning. Allow 2 hours for security; camera batteries and power banks must go in hand baggage, and some flights restrict the number of spare batteries.

Visa & entry
No visa needed — Indian ID proof required. Carry an original photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, voter ID or driving licence) and 3–4 photocopies. Indian tourists need an online Ladakh permit with an environment fee for Nubra, Turtuk and Pangong, which our team arranges using your ID details.
Good to know
Drones are not allowed in most of Ladakh without prior government permission, because much of the region is near the border. Do not bring one unless you have the permission in writing.
Do not photograph army camps, bridges, convoys or check posts. Inside monasteries, photography of some halls and images is not allowed, and some charge a camera fee.
Cold drains batteries fast at night. Carry 2–3 spare batteries in an inner pocket, a sturdy tripod, a headlamp with a red-light mode, and lens wipes for dust. Power at Nubra and Pangong camps is usually available only in the evening.
Plan your dates around the new moon for the best night-sky photographs; a full moon washes out the Milky Way. June to August nights are short, while September is usually the clearest.
Altitude: rest on Day 1, drink 3–4 litres of water a day and avoid alcohol. Pangong nights at about 4,250 m are cold and can disturb sleep; tell us at once about a headache or breathlessness.
Only postpaid mobile connections work in Ladakh, with weak signal in Nubra and Pangong. Carry enough cash; camps may not accept cards. Camps serve simple vegetarian meals.
Questions travellers ask
Is a photography guide or mentor included?
No. The itinerary and timings are planned for photography, and the driver knows the usual viewpoints, but there is no photography mentor in this price. We can add a local photographer-guide at extra cost.
Can we do this with just a mobile phone?
Yes. Sunrises, dunes and monasteries photograph well on modern phones. For the Milky Way, a phone with night mode on a small tripod gives reasonable results, but a camera with a wide lens does much better.
Can we fly a drone?
Generally no. Ladakh is a sensitive border area and drones need prior permission, which is rarely granted to tourists. Drones without permission can be seized.
Is food included at Nubra and Pangong?
Breakfast is included every day. Dinner at the Nubra and Pangong camps is usually taken there and can be added to the package as a supplement.
Are flights included?
No. The price is for the land package from Leh airport. We can quote flights from Hyderabad, Vijayawada or your city separately.
