Arrive Bhopal · Upper Lake and the old city — Our driver meets you at Bhopal airport or railway station (Bhopal Junction or Rani Kamlapati) and takes you to your hotel. In the afternoon, see the Taj-ul-Masajid, one of the largest mosques in India (visitors are not allowed during prayer times; dress modestly), and the Tribal Museum, whose rooms recreate the homes and art of MP's tribal communities (usually closed on Mondays and public…
Bhopal to Pachmarhi via Bhimbetka rock shelters — After breakfast, drive about 45 km (1 hour) to Bhimbetka, where rock shelters in the Vindhya hills hold paintings of animals, hunts and dances, some thought to be over 10,000 years old (entry paid locally; allow 1.5 hours and wear walking shoes). Continue to Pachmarhi (about 160 km, 4 hours) via Narmadapuram (Hoshangabad) and Pipariya, climbing into the Satpura hills for the last 50 km. Check in…

Visa & entry
No visa or permit needed for Indian citizens. Carry a government photo ID for every traveller for hotel check-in and forest entry.
Good to know
Bee Falls and the Pandav Caves involve steps and uneven paths. Wear walking shoes, and older travellers can skip the steep sections.
Pachmarhi is cool in winter (often 5–10 °C at night from December to January). Pack a light jacket.
Forest points open and close at fixed times, and the Gypsy routes are set by the forest department. Some points close in the monsoon.
The Tribal Museum in Bhopal is usually closed on Mondays; plan Day 1 on another day if it matters to you.
Bhopal has plenty of vegetarian food. Pachmarhi is small and its restaurants close early, so plan dinner by 9 pm.
UPI works in most places, but carry cash for forest fees and Gypsy guides.
Questions travellers ask
Why do we need a Gypsy in Pachmarhi?
Most viewpoints, waterfalls and caves are inside the protected Satpura forest area, where only forest-registered Gypsies can go. The Gypsy is hired locally at the forest counter and paid there, along with forest entry fees; we help you book it.
Can we add Sanchi Stupa?
Yes. Sanchi is about 46 km from Bhopal and needs about half a day. We can add it on Day 1 for an early arrival or add an extra day.
Is this trip suitable for elderly parents?
Yes, for the most part. The drives are about 4–5 hours, and most points have parking close by. Bee Falls and Pandav Caves have steps, which can be skipped.
Can we add a tiger safari?
Satpura Tiger Reserve's Madhai zone is about 3 hours from Pachmarhi. A safari needs an extra day and advance online booking, which we can arrange.
Does the price include trains or flights?
No. The package starts and ends at Bhopal. Bhopal has direct trains from Vijayawada and Hyderabad (via Nagpur or Itarsi), and we can book them separately.
