Good to know
Kaziranga reopened for the 2026–27 season on 3 October 2026, with jeep safaris running; elephant safaris were expected to resume a few weeks later. The park closes for the monsoon, usually from May to September, and dates can shift with floods.
Safaris run in fixed morning and afternoon slots, and seats sell out on weekends and holidays from December to March. Tell us at booking so we can reserve them.
Wear muted colours (green, brown, khaki) on safari, carry a cap and sunscreen, and keep a warm layer for the open jeep on winter mornings (around 8–12°C).
Kamakhya temple closes for a few days every June during the Ambubachi Mela, and queues are very long on Tuesdays, Saturdays and festival days.
Vegetarian food is easy to find in Guwahati. Resorts at Kaziranga serve vegetarian North and South Indian food on request; please tell us your preference.
Questions travellers ask
Are the safaris included?
No. Jeep and elephant safaris are paid separately because they are booked per range and slot, and the forest department sets the fees. We can book them for you and add the cost to your quote.
Will we definitely see a rhino?
Very likely. Kaziranga has the world's largest population of one-horned rhinos, and most visitors see several on a jeep safari, especially in the Western and Central ranges.
Is this trip suitable for senior citizens and children?
Yes. There is no trekking. The drives to and from Kaziranga are about 5 hours each, and the safari jeeps are open but comfortable. Elephant safaris usually have a minimum age for children.
Can we add Shillong or Meghalaya?
Yes. Shillong is about 3 hours from Guwahati. We can add 2–3 nights for Shillong and Cherrapunji, or see our Meghalaya package.
Does the price include flights?
No. The trip starts and ends in Guwahati. We can book flights from Vijayawada or Hyderabad and send a quote with and without flights.
