Visa & entry
Indian passport holders can apply online for Russia's unified e-visa at the official site evisa.kdmid.ru. Since August 2025 it allows a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days, is valid for 120 days from issue, and costs about USD 50 (children under 6 free). A decision usually comes within 4 working days; we suggest applying 2–3 weeks before travel. No invitation letter or hotel voucher is needed. Print the e-visa and carry medical insurance valid in Russia. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the visa's end date and have two blank pages. Your hotel registers your stay with the migration authorities. A visa-free scheme for Indian tour groups has been discussed by both governments but was not in force at the time of writing, so plan on the e-visa.
Good to know
Indian Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards do not work in Russia, and forex cards usually do not either. Carry enough US dollars or euros in clean, new notes and exchange them for roubles at banks or official exchange counters.
WhatsApp has been blocked on Russian networks since February 2026. It may still work on Indian international roaming, but share your hotel phone number with family before you leave.
The Kremlin is closed on Thursdays. Bolshoi tickets sell out weeks in advance, so book early if you want a ballet.
Indian restaurants, including vegetarian ones, are easy to find in central Moscow. Russian dishes such as blini, syrniki and mushroom soup also suit vegetarians.
Moscow airports are sometimes closed for a few hours for security reasons, which can delay flights. Keep a buffer before onward connections.
Carry your passport, visa printout and hotel registration slip at all times; police can ask to see them.
Questions travellers ask
How do we get the visa for Russia?
Indian citizens can apply for the Russia e-visa online. It costs about USD 50, usually comes within 4 working days and allows up to 30 days in Russia. We help you fill in the form correctly.
How much cash should we carry?
As Indian cards do not work in Russia, carry about USD 60–80 per person per day for lunches, local transport and small purchases, plus extra for optional shows and shopping. Indian rules allow up to USD 3,000 in foreign currency notes per trip.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Central Moscow has several Indian restaurants with vegetarian dishes, and hotel breakfasts include bread, eggs, porridge, cheese and fruit.
Is this trip suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, for seniors who can manage some walking and the escalators of the Metro, which are long and steep at some stations. The Kremlin and Red Square involve 2–3 hours on foot with breaks.
Are flights included?
No. Flights are quoted separately. There are direct flights between Delhi and Moscow; from Vijayawada or Hyderabad you would connect via Delhi or a Gulf hub.
