Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Varanasi · Evening Ganga Aarti — Our driver meets you at Varanasi airport (about 25 km, 45–60 minutes from the city) or Varanasi Junction railway station and takes you to your hotel. In the evening, walk down to Dashashwamedh Ghat for the Ganga Aarti, which usually starts around sunset (about 6–7 pm) and lasts 45 minutes; cars cannot enter the lanes near the ghat, so the last stretch is on foot. Varanasi, or Kashi, is one of…
Sunrise boat ride · Kashi Vishwanath darshan · Sarnath — Start before sunrise with a private rowing boat along the ghats from Dashashwamedh to Manikarnika and back (about 1 hour, included). After breakfast, go for darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple through the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor; phones, bags and leather items are usually not allowed inside, so use the lockers. The paid Sugam Darshan ticket, booked on the temple trust website, is optional…
Varanasi to Prayagraj · Boat to the Triveni Sangam — After breakfast, drive about 125 km to Prayagraj (3–3.5 hours). Take a boat from the Sangam ghats to the point where the Ganga, the Yamuna and the unseen Saraswati meet (boat included); many pilgrims take a holy dip or perform pind daan here with a local pandit, arranged and paid for on the spot. Visit the Bade Hanuman (Lete Hanuman) temple beside the Sangam, and Anand Bhawan if time allows…
Prayagraj to Ayodhya · Saryu Aarti — After breakfast, drive about 170 km to Ayodhya (4–4.5 hours). Check in and rest, then in the evening attend the Saryu Aarti at Ram ki Paidi or Naya Ghat on the Saryu river. Ayodhya is revered as the birthplace of Lord Rama and is one of the seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri) of Hindu tradition.
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir · Hanuman Garhi · Kanak Bhawan — Start early with Hanuman Garhi, traditionally visited first, which is about 76 steps up. Then go for darshan at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir; it is usually open from about 6:30 am to 9:30 pm, and phones, bags, shoes and electronic items must be left at the free lockers outside, so carry only cash and photo ID. Later visit Kanak Bhawan and Dashrath Mahal, all within a short drive of each…
Departure from Ayodhya — After breakfast, we drop you at Ayodhya airport (about 10 km) or Ayodhya Dham railway station. If your flight leaves from Lucknow instead, the drive is about 135 km (about 3 hours) and costs extra.

Good to know
Phones, bags and leather items are usually not allowed inside Kashi Vishwanath, and the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir does not allow phones, bags, shoes or electronics. Both have locker counters; carry a small cloth bag with cash and ID.
Wear modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Traditional Indian dress is preferred at Kashi Vishwanath, and you will remove footwear at every temple, so socks help on hot or cold stone floors.
The lanes of old Varanasi are narrow and crowded, and the walk from the car to the ghats or the temple can be 10–15 minutes each way. Senior citizens can hire an e-rickshaw locally.
December–January mornings in Varanasi and Ayodhya can be 5–8 °C with fog that delays trains and flights. Pack a warm layer and keep buffer time on the last day.
Crowds are very heavy around Mahashivratri, Ram Navami, Diwali and Magh Mela (January–February at Prayagraj). Hotel rates rise and darshan queues get longer then.
Questions travellers ask
Is a VIP or Sugam Darshan ticket included?
No. At Kashi Vishwanath, paid Sugam Darshan tickets are usually sold on the temple trust website and get sold out on busy days. At Ayodhya, darshan is free, and the temple trust has offered online passes for set time slots. We can help you book them, but the cost is extra and availability is not guaranteed.
Can we take a holy dip at the Sangam?
Yes. The boat takes you to the confluence, and the boatmen usually have a wooden platform where you can bathe. Carry a change of clothes and a towel. If you want pind daan or a puja, the boatman or a local pandit can arrange it; you pay them directly.
Can we fly out of Lucknow instead of Ayodhya?
Yes. Lucknow is about 135 km (3 hours) from Ayodhya, and we can drop you there at extra cost. Ayodhya airport has fewer flights, so check the schedule before booking.
Is this tour suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, it is mostly by car with short walks. The longest walks are in the lanes near Kashi Vishwanath and the 76 steps at Hanuman Garhi. Wheelchairs are usually available at the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir and the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor.
Can we do Gaya or Bodh Gaya on this trip?
Yes, as an add-on. Gaya is about 250 km (5–6 hours) from Varanasi, so it needs one extra night. Ask us for a quote.
